Recently, the Australian department of state announced some changes to the immigration programs. Among the changes were the replacement of subclass 489 with the 491 Skilled Regional Visa.
It took effect from 16th November 2019.
As a result, South Australia has also modified its State Nominated Occupation List and the respective requirements.
Although there were no changes to the occupations with the “Special Conditions Apply.” However, below are the recent adjustments that have been made to State Nomination Occupation for South Australia.
The minimum points required to apply under some occupations/categories have been increased to either 75 or 85.
Nevertheless, international students from South Australia, or individuals who have worked in the region for up to 12 months, require 65 points to be eligible.
Most trade occupations still require a minimum of 65 points.
Due to the recent reduction in the total number of slots available for the subclass 190 visa, extra criteria have been added.

An applicant whose occupation falls under the ‘high-point-category’ will now require 95 points to be eligible
In the chain migration class, the minimum eligibility score is now 75.
There is a 10% increase in the cost of application for all state nomination programs in South Australia. The new fees will take effect from 4th December, 2019.
There will be no more addition to the list of State Nominated Programs as soon as the system begins to receive applications.
Applications have commenced for the subclass 190 and 491 visas, respectively, in South Australia.
